the story of his life

A fifty-five year old member of Club Morono carried a pad and pen to write the story of his life, in bits and pieces, whatever he was able to remember, mostly boring, repetitive concerns, a set of fears and a predictable spectrum of emotion. After his hand got sore, after writing five or six pages, he saw that it was unspectacular. Maybe he was hoping to write something mind-blowing. Instead, it was ho-hum.

According to the Club Morono Method, trying to impress someone is a mistake. Most of life is routine, repetitive and predictable. Readers usually skip to the romantic parts, love, conflict, murder, whatever. You could throw in a little sex and violence. It probably won't make a difference. Try it, turn your life into a love story, love conquers all. Don't be afraid. Don't worry about what people might think.

His life was as exciting as a grey brick econo-facade, uniform windows, no decoration, a cheap, good-enough building on a good-enough street to do business. It suddenly became interesting.
