Once in a while it's fun to visit people you haven't seen in a long time. I hadn't seen Mary in about thirteen years. It was a lot of fun to relax and talk about things.

Gotta keep up with the laundry. Don't let it pile up, otherwise it's going to take a lot of machines to clean those clothes.

cut the mustard

Sometimes a cheap bottle of wine just won't cut the mustard, in other words, the taste might be a little stronger than one expected. It might look good against a backdrop of trees, but when you raise the glass and inhale pungent odour, you better hope it's ice cold. If it's ice cold and goes down quick, it won't taste so bad.

put your foot down

Sometimes it's necessary to put your foot down, especially when things get out of control, or one needs to put a stop to unruly or unreasonable behaviour.
